Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce the addition of Jonathan Bloch as a shareholder in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Bloch brings an unparalleled depth of experience, knowledge and relationships to Brownstein’s corporate practice group. He represents corporations, investors and entrepreneurs in business and real estate transactions, representing developers and sponsors with respect to all aspects of EB-5 development projects across the country. Bloch is joining Brownstein from Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell in Los Angeles.

“At Brownstein, we remain committed to adding top tier talent to our specialty, high-end practice areas,” said Adam Agron, co-managing partner of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. “Jonathan strengthens our already deep bench of attorneys in our Corporate and Real Estate departments, while bringing expertise and a national reputation in hospitality, EB-5 projects, private equity, venture capital, investment and lending matters, further solidifying Brownstein’s position as a national player in these practice areas.”

The addition of Bloch expands Brownstein’s already skilled hospitality, resort and recreation teams supported by the firm’s equally strong government relations, land use and water law practices. Brownstein’s extensive work navigating the challenges of EB-5 real estate development projects also complements Bloch’s legal practice.

“I’m thrilled about my move to Brownstein,” said Bloch. “Working in collaboration with Brownstein’s powerhouse team of attorneys, we have many opportunities to pursue clients’ complex corporate financing challenges and further solidify the firm’s EB-5 program practice.”

Bloch brings more than 20 years of experience in venture capital, private equity and alternative investments focused on large institutional investors specializing in operations, sophisticated fund formation issues and legal and regulatory compliance. He works with developers of real estate and hotels, as well as energy infrastructure companies, in negotiating, documenting and obtaining EB-5 loans through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa program.

Previously, Bloch served as acting general counsel at a firm where he reviewed and negotiated limited partnership agreements and side letters for over 40 partnerships. Prior to private law practice, Bloch was the founder and Senior Managing Director of a large fund-of-funds firm (over $700 million in investments), which was targeted at venture capital, growth equity, medium-size buyout funds and cleantech investing. The fund-of-funds firm was sold to a major international investment bank.

Bloch earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from University of California at Berkeley.
