Edward A. “Eddie” Woods and Susan K. Leader have joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as partners in the firm’s commercial litigation practice in Los Angeles. Both were previously partners in a boutique Los Angeles-based litigation firm.

Both Mr. Woods and Ms. Leader maintain broad practices handling complex commercial litigation matters for clients across a number of key industries.

Mr. Woods maintains an extensive commercial and entertainment litigation practice, representing entrepreneurs, manufacturers, retail establishments, real estate developers and syndicators, entertainers, film production and distribution companies, lawyers and law firms in a variety of matters.

Mr. Woods received his J.D. from UCLA in 1972, and received his B.A. in film from UCLA in 1968. He is admitted to practice in California.

Ms. Leader has substantial experience in litigating and trying complex commercial matters in federal and state courts and arbitration for clients in the aerospace, retail and automotive industries. For these clients, she focuses on disputes alleging breach of contract and business torts, as well as intellectual property claims in copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets and IP claims under the California Uniform Trade Secrets Act.

Ms. Leader received her J.D. in 2001 from the University of Virginia School of Law and received her B.A. magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1997. She is admitted to practice in California.
