The national law firm of Epstein Becker Green is pleased to announce that Paul A. Gomez has joined as a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences and Corporate Service practices, in the Los Angeles office.

“Paul’s arrival brings added strength to Epstein Becker Green’s health care practice, particularly its transactional work, on the West Coast,” said George Breen, Chair of the firm’s National Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Steering Committee. “His experience representing a wide array of providers complements the services that the firm provides in that area, from structuring mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic affiliations, to counseling on compliance with fraud and abuse laws, and advising on provider licensing and reimbursement matters. Paul is not only a well-respected health care and corporate attorney, but also an active member of the health care community in Los Angeles.”

Mr. Gomez was previously with Paul Hastings in Los Angeles. His practice focuses on all of the transactional and regulatory aspects of the health care industry, including complex hospital/physician integration models, strategic affiliations, physician practice acquisitions, other asset purchases/sales, mergers and acquisitions, health care joint ventures, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, provider licensing and certification, health care fraud and abuse matters, provider voluntary self-disclosure, and HIPAA.

“Adding Paul to the Los Angeles office is part of Epstein Becker Green’s plan for continued growth on the West Coast in each of the firm’s core practices — health care and life sciences, labor and employment, and litigation. Paul’s addition follows the firm’s strategic move in March 2014, which created an alliance with Nelson Hardiman, a Southern California-based firm, to better serve health care companies in California and nationally in connection with their health care, labor and employment, government investigation, litigation, and transactional needs,” said David Jacobs, Managing Shareholder of the Los Angeles office and a Member of the Firm in the Litigation and Labor and Employment practices.

“By joining Epstein Becker Green,” Mr. Gomez explained, “I have the ability to work on a national platform with more than 125 health care lawyers who know the health care industry inside and out and have handled virtually every type of matter in health care law. This provides me with a wealth of resources to better serve my clients and further develop my transactional and regulatory-based practice. I am excited about the opportunity to be part of Epstein Becker Green and to work alongside such talented colleagues.”

Mr. Gomez represents a wide variety of health care providers, including nonprofit and for-profit hospitals, health systems, dialysis providers, medical groups, and other health care entities. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys, and currently serves as Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Healthcare Law Section. He is admitted to the California and New York Bars.
