Goodwin Procter, a national Am Law 50 firm, today announced that Kristen Garcia Dumont has joined the firm’s Litigation Department in its Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices as a member of Goodwin’s Labor & Employment and Technology Companies Practices. She will focus on defense work for technology companies related to a wide range of employment disputes, including employee mobility lawsuits, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination and whistleblower complaints. Dumont joins Goodwin from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s San Francisco office where she was a partner.

Dumont has substantial experience in labor and employment litigation matters for technology-related companies. She was successful in obtaining a dismissal with prejudice of a statewide overtime and commission forfeiture class action for a Fortune 100 client, as well as achieving a complete defense verdict in a fraud and breach of contract case brought against several venture capital firms. She also represented a client in a closely watched statewide class action which is expected to help define the scope and applicability of the learned and professional exemptions in the computer and software engineering fields.

In addition to her litigation background, Dumont has extensive experience in counseling clients on all facets of employment relationships, including social media policies, privacy issues and protection of trade secrets.

Dumont received her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Dumont is also a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
