Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Yi-Chin Ho has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner in the Litigation Department. Ho is a high-stakes general commercial litigator with broad experience advising on antitrust and trade regulation, intellectual property and white collar investigation matters for clients in Asia and the United States.

Ho’s practice particularly centers on representing Chinese and Taiwanese companies in a range of litigation matters, including price fixing class actions, predatory pricing actions, patent litigation, International Trade Commission investigations, white collar and government investigations, and complex commercial litigation. She has substantial experience litigating commercial disputes in arbitrations, mediations, court and jury trials and appeals – including before the California Court of Appeal, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Ho advises clients across a range of industries including automotive, entertainment, finance, life sciences, media, retail and technology. She speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese, which she uses often in her practice, and she serves as primary outside general counsel for a number of Chinese and Taiwanese companies with respect to their legal affairs in the United States, including counseling on corporate and transactional matters in addition to litigation matters.

“We are delighted to welcome Yi-Chin to the firm. She built her impressive practice from the ground up, often by tapping into her extensive relationships in Asia and by providing practical and astute legal advice. We’re confident that by combining her talents and relationships with the global platform and resources of Latham & Watkins, Yi-Chin’s practice will rise to new heights and our clients will benefit greatly,” said Jim Beaubien, Office Managing Partner in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles litigation partner Manny Abascal added: “As international trade disputes and regulatory enforcement have intensified, there is significant demand for attorneys who can advise on cross-border litigation matters emanating from Asia. Yi-Chin is among the few attorneys who excel in this area, and we and our clients are fortunate now to have her as a resource at Latham.”

Ho commented: “I was attracted to Latham by many things, including the firm’s strong global platform and the work being done with cutting-edge companies in emerging markets.”

Ho joins the firm from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, where she was a partner and served as the firm’s Director of Asia Development and Strategic Growth. She has taken on leadership roles in a number of Chinese and Taiwanese community organizations and currently serves as a Director on the board of the Taiwanese American Lawyers Association. She received her J.D. from the University of California Hastings in 1999.
