Arnold & Porter LLP announced today that Richard S. Millard has joined its Corporate and Securities practice group as senior counsel in its San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices.

Well known in Northern California’s business community where he has practiced for the majority of his career, Mr. Millard has represented numerous companies, boards, investors, investment banks and financial institutions in a variety of corporate transactions world-wide. His practice has focused on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital transactions, as well as private and public equity and debt financings.

“We are delighted to have a seasoned and well-regarded M & A attorney like Dick join our corporate and securities practice here,” said Trenton H. Norris, co-head of the firm’s Northern California offices.

“His reputation in Silicon Valley and proven ability to handle a diverse range of complex commercial transactions will be a great addition to our corporate practice on the West Coast and especially benefit our technology clientele,” added offices co-head Douglas A. Winthrop.

In addition to his domestic experience, Mr. Millard has handled significant acquisitions and divestitures throughout the world, including most European countries, Australia, Singapore, China and Japan. And he has worked in a broad range of non-technology industries, including transactions involving petroleum refineries, fertilizer plants, natural resources, agricultural processors, and real estate investment trusts.

Mr. Millard obtained his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
