Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, announced today that Yuri Mikulka has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice as a partner in its Orange County office. Mikulka joins from Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth, where she chaired the Intellectual Property practice group.

Mikulka has nearly 20 years of litigation experience representing Fortune 500 companies to startups in litigation nationwide. She leads high-stakes patent, trademark and copyright trials and arbitrations in the fields of technology, medical devices and action sports. She also counsels domestic and multinational companies on intellectual property protection, brand protection and online legal issues. She frequently authors and speaks on intellectual property and litigation strategies at national CLE conferences, and serves as a guest lecturer at the University of California, Irvine’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering.

“Yuri is focused on protecting her clients’ most important asset: their intellectual property,” said Robert W. Dickerson, Jr., chair of Manatt’s Intellectual Property practice. “She has an impressive track record of obtaining excellent results for her clients. Her broad range of experience in the IP field and litigation, sophisticated knowledge, and innovative strategies make her a valuable resource to clients, and an exciting addition to our growing practice.”

Mikulka’s notable client successes as lead counsel include securing a jury verdict of willful patent and copyright infringement; obtaining judgments of noninfringement and invalidity in patent infringement actions between competitors; prevailing in a Ninth Circuit Appeal; and obtaining sanctions and attorneys’ fees in favor of her clients.

“Manatt’s strong cross-disciplinary platform is a great fit for my practice,” said Mikulka. “The firm’s combination of superior litigation capabilities with deep industry focus is rare. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with this talented team.”

Mikulka is the latest in a series of new partners joining Manatt across the country in 2015, including corporate transactions lawyers Douglas C. Boggs, Alan M. Noskow and Joseph G. Passaic, former Medicaid official Cindy Mann, and consumer protection partner Katherine Winfree in Washington, D.C.; healthcare partner Randi Seigel and financial services partner Brian Korn in New York; and TCPA litigator Christine Reilly in Los Angeles.
