Hamid Namazie has joined McGuireWoods LLP as a partner in the firm’s Debt Finance Department, where he will focus on advising clients on all facets of secured and unsecured lending transactions in both the large corporate and middle markets.

Previously a shareholder and administrative chair of Buchalter Nemer’s bank and finance practice in Los Angeles, Namazie has represented a wide range of clients, including banks, institutional lenders, commercial finance companies, hedge funds, and clients lending to the solar and renewable energy industry.

Namazie, who will be based in McGuireWoods’ Los Angeles office, brings more than 15 years of experience advising on secured and unsecured commercial lending, banking, bankruptcy and loan workout matters. He has extensive experience in various types of lending transactions, including asset-based lending, cash flow lending, leveraged recapitalization, acquisition transactions, complex inter-creditor issues, widely syndicated loan transactions, cross-border and multi-currency lending structures, workouts, debtor-in-possession financing, and exit financing. He also handles recurring revenue transactions, warehouse and re-discount loans and other secured loan facilities.

“We are excited for Hamid to join the team as we continue to grow our national practice,” said Bob Cramer, chairman of the firm’s debt finance practice, which welcomed New York-based partner Barry Biggar in March. “We look forward to him helping to lead our finance team on the West Coast for years to come, as well as the client synergies his practice will provide.”

“Hamid’s breadth of experience in cash flow and asset-based lending deals, in both the large cap and middle markets, complements our strategic growth to meet our clients’ financing needs in these areas,” said Richard Grant, managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. “We are delighted Hamid has joined us.”

Namazie graduated from Loyola Law School in 1998 and earned his B.A. at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995. He currently serves as counsel to the Commercial Finance Conference of California, which is the Southern California chapter of the Commercial Finance Association.
