Pillsbury today announced the addition of André Brewster, an experienced securities and business transactional lawyer in San Francisco. Brewster joins Pillsbury’s Investment Funds and Investment Management team within the Corporate and Securities practice as counsel.

“André’s extensive experience advising clients on mutual funds and other investment tools makes him a perfect fit for our firm, which has developed a widely-recognized investment funds and management practice,” said Jay Gould, partner in Pillsbury’s Corporate & Securities practice and leader of the firm’s Investment Funds and Investment Management team. “André’s deep knowledge of the investment community will not only be a huge contribution to our team, but will also be immensely beneficial to our clients.”

With 30 years of experience in corporate and securities, Brewster advises clients on corporate, partnership and securities matters, including public offerings, private placements, acquisitions, contract negotiation, regulatory filings and compliance issues. He represents investment companies, investment advisors, brokers-dealers, and other financial institutions and intermediaries. He often also acts as counsel to independent directors and trustees of registered investment companies.

After obtaining his law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was an editor of The Virginia Law Review, Brewster began his legal career as a law clerk to Judge Harrison L. Winter of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Following his clerkship, he joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and then Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin.

“I was looking for a national platform to support my investment funds and securities practice. Pillsbury has that platform, which was a major draw for me,” Brewster noted. “Over the years, I have known and worked with many talented attorneys at Pillsbury, which further attracted me to the firm.”

Pillsbury represents a broad range of clients in the area of investment funds and investment management. We represent offshore and domestic private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate funds, mutual funds, investment advisers, benefit plans, broker-dealers, depository institutions, and other industry participants in a variety of strategic, regulatory, compliance and enforcement matters.
