Pillsbury is pleased to announce today the arrival of well-known entertainment partner Kathy Jorrie in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Jorrie joined from McKenna Long & Aldridge, where she was the managing partner of McKenna’s Los Angeles office until earlier last month. Jennifer Seigle, an entertainment law and intellectual property associate, will join Pillsbury along with Jorrie in Los Angeles.

“Kathy is a top notch entertainment litigator and transactional lawyer,” said Firm Chair Jim Rishwain, Jr. “While we have a strong Los Angeles practice representing some of the world’s best known companies, Kathy’s arrival significantly raises our profile in the entertainment industry with key players in the industry, as she is a go-to practitioner with A-list clients. Our firm and our clients will greatly benefit from her skills.”

“I’m elated to join Pillsbury, which has had a long and illustrious reputation in Southern California,” said Jorrie. “The firm’s roots are deep and extensive here and it has the added plus of a global reach – providing the perfect platform to meet the complex business, litigation and regulatory needs of the world’s top entertainment companies.”

Among other accolades, Jorrie has been named by the Daily Journal as a Top 100 California Attorney and has been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a Top Lawyer in Media and Entertainment and a Top 40 Entertainment Lawyer. She has 30 years of experience handling high-stakes intellectual property, entertainment and unfair competition matters. She has been lead counsel in numerous jury trials in complicated commercial cases. She has successfully handled many trademark infringement matters for clients ranging from live entertainment promoters to motion picture and television producers, a major motion picture studio, and a television satellite platform, as well as manufacturers of a variety of products.

Robert Wallan, a senior litigation partner in Pillsbury’s Los Angeles office, said: “We have known Kathy for many years as she is among the top lawyers representing the entertainment industry in California and beyond. She has also demonstrated abilities as a leader among lawyers, and brings the right fit to this firm’s collaborative and inclusive culture. I personally look forward to working alongside Kathy as do my colleagues here in Los Angeles and throughout the firm.”

Jorrie also has extensive experience as a deal lawyer. She has negotiated and prepared promotion and production agreements for national and international music tours and Las Vegas residency engagements of blockbuster artists, music festivals, such as Coachella and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and museum touring exhibitions, such as “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh.”

She earned her J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1985 and a B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles, in 1982.

Jennifer Seigle is an important component of Jorrie’s entertainment practice, both on the litigation and transactional sides. She advises clients on transactional matters involving touring and live events agreements and the acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights, and has represented clients in complex litigation and business disputes involving intellectual property, defamation and privacy laws, breach of commercial contracts and employment issues. She sits on Law360’s Media and Entertainment Editorial Advisory Board for 2015, and is an Associate Member of the Los Angeles Copyright Society. She earned her law degree from Southwestern Law School where she was a Biederman Entertainment and Media Law Institute Scholar.
