Reed Smith LLP today announced the addition of Vanessa C. Gage as a partner in San Francisco, where she is a member of the firm-wide Financial Industry Group (FIG).

Gage was formerly an attorney in Mayer Brown’s New York office, where she focused her practice on asset-based lending, securitization and other structured products, and she is especially known for her work on major aviation and rail deals.

“We are delighted to welcome Vanessa to our West Coast Financial Services Team,” said Perry Napolitano, Chair of Reed Smith’s Financial Industry Group. “Her broad experience in lending and structured financing, which is in high demand on the West Coast, will enhance many of our existing relationships. We will also be counting on her as we expand our California presence in the key area of aviation and transportation financing.”

Gage represents a wide range of private and public companies and institutional clients, including commercial banks, investment banks, and funds. In the transportation finance area, Gage has advised lenders, investors, underwriters, sponsors, aircraft leasing companies and others on commercial aircraft, helicopter and rail portfolio acquisitions, warehouse facilities, equity participations, debt and lease financings, securitizations, bankruptcies, restructurings and workouts, and business jet acquisitions, sales, and fractional ownership interest purchases. She has also represented financial institutions, funds and companies in acquisition financings, syndicated, club and bilateral financings, cross-border financings, capital call/subscription facilities, and project financings.

“I am delighted to be part of the very entrepreneurial Financial Services Team Reed Smith continues to build on the West Coast,” said Gage. “The enthusiasm and business acumen of my new colleagues is inspiring, and the camaraderie in the San Francisco office creates a climate where I am confident my practice can thrive. Reed Smith is a perfect match for the finance platform and organizational structure I was seeking.”

In addition to aircraft and rolling stock, Gage has transactional experience in many significant industries, including energy, commodities and natural resources, as well as food services, agribusiness, manufacturing, retail, education and healthcare.

A 2004 graduate of DePaul University College of Law, Gage joined Mayer Brown in 2005. She was also a banking associate at Chapman and Cutler from 2008 to 2011.
