Global legal practice Squire Sanders is expanding its corporate law presence in Northern California with the addition of lawyers Matteo Daste and Thomas E. Gaynor.

Daste and Gaynor join Squire Sanders as of counsel from Buchalter Nemer, where they collaborated to advise a variety of clients on emerging company, private equity and mergers and acquisition matters.

“Matteo and Tom are energetic and sophisticated practitioners who advise clients from Silicon Valley startups to Europe and Asia Pacific multinationals. They will be great additions to our local and global practices,” said Nicholas Unkovic, Northern California managing partner.

Daste and Gaynor said they are enthusiastic about the opportunity to do more with clients by tapping Squire Sanders resources throughout the world including Squire Sanders’ expanded presence in Asia Pacific and Europe.

“Squire Sanders’ global reach and demonstrated experience with emerging markets is a good fit for clients doing business in an increasingly globalized marketplace,” Daste said.

Gaynor noted that the globalized marketplace  includes non-US technology “dual companies” that are tapping Silicon Valley capital and exits; non-US midsize manufacturers that are expanding global outreach and US-based investors that are moving capital into newer emerging markets and troubled European markets.

Daste focuses his practice on corporate finance and securities transactions including transactions to raise capital and reorganizations. He is a founding member of the Business Association Italy America and sits on the boards of directors of two technology startups and three nonprofit organizations.

Gaynor’s practice includes structuring, negotiating and documenting complex corporate and finance transactions while providing strategic business advice. He has expertise in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, digital media, entertainment and durable consumer products.
