Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, today announced John P. Flynn an accomplished trial attorney with more than 25 years of experience representing clients in corporate and commercial disputes, has joined the firm’s litigation practice as a partner. Flynn will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner in the San Francisco office of McLeod, Witham & Flynn.

Flynn has successfully tried or arbitrated more than 30 matters to conclusion. His litigation experience has included high-stakes cases involving securities and professional liability, intellectual property and trade secrets, entertainment, toxic torts, environmental, insurance and reinsurance, product liability, and employment law.

“John is a respected trial attorney who, over the course of his career, has built an impressive practice and become a go-to attorney for clients needing experienced trial counsel,” said Doug Clark, co-managing partner, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. “He adds substantial first-chair trial experience to our talented group of commercial litigators and trial attorneys, and we’re excited that he’s joined the team.”

Flynn’s list of wins includes, for example, successfully representing a major multimedia entertainment company in a consumer class action seeking more than $50 million in damages and restitution; obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a nonprofit healthcare system and its individual directors in a series of corporate governance lawsuits; and securing a complete defense award on a claim for the alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and an arbitration award of more than $2.4 million on behalf of a gas and radiation detection technology company.

Flynn received a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1987. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1984.

Flynn started his law career in New York at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In 1988, he moved to Los Angeles, joining Latham & Watkins as an associate. In 1993, he joined Dewey Ballantine and became a partner in 1997. Flynn returned to Latham in 2001 as a partner before leaving in 2008 to help found McLeod, Moscarino, Witham & Flynn.
