Winston & Strawn LLP today announced the opening of its Silicon Valley office. Scheduled to officially open its doors September 9, 2013, Winston & Strawn Silicon Valley is the seventeenth global office, and ninth U.S. office for the firm. The Silicon Valley office is a key step in expanding Winston & Strawn’s intellectual property litigation practice and presence on the West Coast.

More than 200 attorneys practice in multiple areas of IP-related law in Winston & Strawn’s intellectual property practice, including more than 20 partners who have first-chaired IP trials in various courts throughout the U.S. and in Europe. The practice has received national recognition in the United States, most recently being chosen for The National Law Journal‘s IP Hot List in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, in 2012 the firm’s IP litigation practice was ranked in the first tier nationally by U.S. News & World Report for the second straight year.

“This new office will be an important anchor in serving our growing number of local Valley clients,” said Thomas Fitzgerald, managing partner, Winston & Strawn. “It establishes a critical presence in this hub of high-tech business, and will play a key role in the continued expansion of our IP litigation practice.”

Winston & Strawn Silicon Valley will be led by David Enzminger. Mr. Enzminger’s trial for Belkin against Fujitsu was chosen as a 2012 verdict of the year in California. In addition to Mr. Enzminger, the firm anticipates that the office will be resident to several Winston & Strawn IP partners, of counsel, and associates who have worked extensively with high tech companies throughout California and around the country.

“The firm’s IP litigation practice continues to expand as does our client base in Silicon Valley,” added Mr. Enzminger. “Having a local presence in the Valley will enable the firm to serve our existing clients more efficiently.”
