Allen Matkins, a California-based full service real estate and business law firm, announced today the hiring of labor and employment attorney Benjamin J. Kim in its Los Angeles office. Ben joins Allen Matkins’ Litigation Department as a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment and Class Actions Practice Groups.

“Ben’s experience and success in litigating a wide range of employment cases, and especially his work with occupational safety and health matters, will meld well with Allen Matkins’ already stellar labor and employment team and benefit the clients we serve,” says David L. Osias, managing partner of Allen Matkins. “The firm’s strategic vision of having the best and brightest attorneys available to meet all the legal needs of our diverse client base, in addition to maintaining a strong community presence, is enhanced by the addition of Ben to our partnership.” Allen Matkins has hired 11 new lateral attorneys since January 2013, in addition to the five law school graduates hired last fall.

Ben has a wide range of experience litigating employment cases in both state and federal courts. His well-rounded employment practice includes defending and representing management in various types of employment matters ranging from single plaintiff cases to class, representative and collective actions, including cases involving allegations of wage and hour violations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination. Ben also specializes in representing employers in occupational safety and health (OSHA) matters involving fatalities and serious injuries at both the state and federal levels.

“I am very excited to join such a dynamic group of talented attorneys at Allen Matkins. They share my commitment to delivering high quality work product, personalized attention to each client, and dedicated service to the community,” says Ben. “I look forward to contributing my experience and expertise to grow the firm’s vibrant labor and employment practice with an emphasis on building long-term, valued relationships with clients.”

Ben has represented a variety of high-profile clients based primarily in California, or those who have a strong California presence. These clients are among the leaders of their respective industries, including, but not limited to, energy and utilities, technology, digital media, entertainment, manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, and construction.

Ben received his juris doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law at Boalt Hall, and his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Arizona with a dual major in journalism and political science. He is currently a board member and the treasurer of Asian Rehabilitation Service, Inc., a non-profit in Los Angeles that provides vocational rehabilitation and other services to persons with disabilities.
