BakerHostetler announced today that J. David Bournazian has joined the firm’s Litigation Group as a Partner in its Costa Mesa office. He comes to BakerHostetler from Kutak Rock LLP.

Bournazian focuses his practice in business litigation, with an emphasis on employment, healthcare and real estate law, and has significant experience in complex business negotiations. He represents a wide range of national and international clients, including universities and publicly traded companies, in litigation and transactional matters. Bournazian has represented several national retailers in complex matters and one in a highly publicized class action matter in which he successfully defended the claim and obtained insurance recovery on the client’s behalf. Bournazian has also handled complex energy plant development claims, including the recovery of millions of dollars for his client in one action.

Along with other governmental agencies, Bournazian previously worked in the United States White House, Executive Office of the President in Washington, D.C., overseeing NASA and Drug Enforcement Administration budgets and obtaining Congressional approval for Presidential Programs. Additionally, Bournazian was general counsel for Frank Gehry and Gehry Partners, LLP, one of the most world-renowned architects, and served as the general counsel to an international software company. Prior to his law career, Bournazian worked in the environmental consulting and scientific development fields for private companies, undertaking projects for the federal government and the United States Department of the Navy. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego in 1996.
