Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that J. David Bournazian has joined the firm’s litigation practice as a partner in Orange County. He joins the firm from Baker Hostetler LLP. Bournazian is the third litigation partner to join the firm’s Orange County office in the past six months, with Edward Kim and Peter Villar arriving last fall.

Bournazian focuses his practice on matters relating to business litigation, with an emphasis on construction drafting and litigation, employment, class action, and real estate law. He has a great deal of experience handling complex business litigation and transactional negotiations for national and international clients, many of which are large publicly traded companies and include international retailers. He previously served as the general counsel for Gehry Partners, LLP, the architecture firm founded by world renowned architect Frank Gehry. As general counsel, Bournazian worked on several marquee international projects, including famous developments in New York City and Paris, such as the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

Before going into private practice, Bournazian worked in the public sector, serving in the Executive Office of the President at the White House, where he oversaw the budgets of NASA and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

“David is a great addition to the Orange County office,” said Larry Cerutti, managing partner of the firm’s Orange County office. “The diverse experience he brings from private practice, the public sector and as in-house counsel, handling sophisticated matters for domestic and international clients, will benefit our expanding West Coast litigation practice.”

“David is a fantastic litigator,” said Bill Withrow, chair of the litigation department. “His experience includes drafting and negotiating construction contracts, as well as litigating some of the largest construction disputes. This background will complement our national construction practice, which is seeing a great deal of growth, both on the transactional and counseling side.”

Bournazian received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers and received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.

“I am very excited to join Troutman Sanders,” said Bournazian. “The firm has an outstanding group of litigators, and we have much in common, including significant client contacts throughout the country and abroad. I am looking forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and contributing to the continued expansion of the firm’s litigation practice.”
