Pillsbury today announced the arrival of Executive Compensation and Benefits partner Jonathan Ocker to the firm’s San Francisco office. Ocker joins from Orrick, where he was a partner and the chair of that firm’s Executive Compensation and Benefits group. He is also an alumnus of Pillsbury.

With an impressive list of marquee clients, Ocker advises public companies, boards of directors and high-profile executives on corporate governance and compensation.

“Over the years, Jon has maintained close ties at Pillsbury, and we are thrilled to welcome him back,” said Cindy Schlaefer, leader of Pillsbury’s Executive Compensation & Benefits practice. “Clients call him the ‘Say on Pay Doctor’ for good reason. His clients trust his advice implicitly.”

“I made a lot of friends over the years at Pillsbury and have kept in touch with partners like Jorge del Calvo since my earliest days as a lawyer here,” Ocker said. “Pillsbury provides me with the best global platform for my practice, and I am honored to be back working with some of the best-known practitioners in the field.”

Schlaefer added: “Although Pillsbury is already well-regarded for its compensation and benefits practice, Jon will bring additional firepower to our Bay Area offerings. Jon has a sterling reputation in the market and has built strong connections with high-level contacts at some of California’s largest companies.”

In addition, Jeremy Erickson will join Pillsbury as counsel in San Francisco from Apple. Erickson previously worked with Ocker as an associate at Orrick. He starts at Pillsbury on April 13.

Ocker earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and his law degree from Washington University of St. Louis. He began his career at Kirkland & Ellis and McCutchen Doyle before joining Pillsbury, where he was a partner. He is licensed to practice law in California.
