Dentons announced today that Russell Tonkovich, MD has joined the Firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice as a partner in the San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. He brings extensive technical experience in the medical and biological sciences and a long history of representing high-profile clients in patent infringement cases in both district courts and the International Trade Commission. Tonkovich’s move to Dentons enhances the Firm’s formidable Intellectual Property and Technology group, a top-tier practice consisting of more than 100 lawyers and technically trained professionals.

Tonkovich has experience representing a diverse range of clients including prominent Silicon Valley technology companies as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. His practice focuses on technologies in the pharmaceutical, medical device, energy, computer hardware, computer software and mobile phone industries. Tonkovich counsels clients on intellectual property litigation, patent office proceedings and patent licensing and valuation. He also has experience working with foreign counsel on patent infringement litigations filed in Europe and Asia.

Tonkovich earned his JD from Harvard Law School, where he was vice president of the Harvard Law and Healthcare Society and article editor of the Journal of Law and Technology. Prior to law school, he obtained his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and received a BS in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
