Foley announced today that Nancy L. Stagg has joined the firm as a partner in the San Diego office working with the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Privacy, Security & Information Management Practices. Previously, Stagg was a principal at Fish & Richardson PC.
Stagg focuses her practice on complex business disputes, including defense of consumer class actions, intellectual property litigation, trade secret litigation, and unfair competition and false advertising litigation. She brings extensive trial and arbitration experience in state and federal courts throughout California and nationwide as well as in investigations and actions brought by the Federal Trade Commission, Attorney General, and District Attorney.
“Nancy has considerable trial, appellate, and arbitration experience involving a range of complex business disputes,” said Michael J. Tuteur, chair of the firm’s Litigation Department and Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice. “Her addition well complements our existing team of talented litigators and will further enhance our national business litigation capabilities.”
Stagg also assists corporate legal departments in avoiding and managing litigation, handling arbitrations and mediations, and addressing e-discovery issues. She has represented a variety of publicly-held and private companies, including consumer electronics manufacturers, product merchandisers, biopharmaceutical companies, magazine marketers, telecommunications providers, automobile warranty companies, banks, and credit card companies.
“Nancy’s broad business litigation experience and knowledge of class actions will provide significant value to our clients facing such challenges,” said Van A. Tengberg, managing partner of Foley’s San Diego and Del Mar offices. “She is one of six recently added to the San Diego office, boosting our exceptional group of attorneys across the firm’s six California offices to nearly 130.”
“Nancy is one of the leading class action litigators in California and we are pleased to welcome her to San Diego as part of our growing team of talented litigators on the West Coast,” said Andrew B. Serwin, chair of recruiting for the San Diego and Del Mar offices, and chair of Litigation Recruiting for California.
Stagg is active in a number of civic and professional organizations, including the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the William B. Enright Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and Run Women Run PAC, among others. She currently serves as co-chair of the Lawyer Representative Committee to the Southern District of California and is a member of the Lawyer Representative Coordinating Committee to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
“I am excited to join Foley’s national litigation practice,” said Stagg. “I was attracted to Foley because of its emphasis on providing excellent client service and its innovative use of technology.”
She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Commercial Litigation, 2008-2012) and has been recognized as a San Diego Super Lawyer (2007-2012) as well as being named one of the Top 25 Female San Diego Super Lawyers in 2009.
