Hopkins & Carley, a law firm serving Silicon Valley businesses and individuals, adds veteran intellectual property litigator Jeffrey Ratinoff. Joining from K&L Gates LLP, Ratinoff has more than 15 years of experience representing clients in technology-driven litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as the International Trade Commission.
“We are very excited to have Jeff join Hopkins & Carley. His extensive experience representing technology companies, particularly his expertise in IP litigation, further expands our services in this growing area. In addition, Jeff shares the firm’s entrepreneurial spirit and strong commitment to client satisfaction,” said Hopkins & Carley’s Managing Shareholder Jeffrey Essner.
John Picone, chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Patent Litigation Group, added, “I met Jeff many years ago when we were on opposite sides of a trade secret case. I’ve followed his career and have continued to be impressed by his skills and approach to complex client matters. I’m delighted we will be working together.”
Ratinoff’s patent litigation practice includes representing computer design and manufacturing companies, data storage device manufacturers, smartphone and tablet makers, network security providers, semiconductor and memory chip fabricators, and computer software companies. In addition, he has extensive experience protecting and defending intellectual property rights in trade secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, unfair competition, anti-counterfeiting, false advertising, trade libel and copyright infringement matters. Ratinoff also regularly advises clients on intellectual property protection and enforcement programs, including implementing procedures and safeguards for protecting inventions, trade secrets and other confidential information.
“I am thrilled to join Hopkins & Carley’s thriving IP litigation practice. The firm’s deep connections to the business community along with its commitment to providing efficient and value-based legal services will be a tremendous advantage to my clients,” said Ratinoff.
