Squire Patton Boggs has added Linda Pfatteicher as partner in its global Tax Strategy & Benefits Practice Group. She will be based in the firm’s San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. Ms. Pfatteicher was previously a partner at DLA Piper.

A specialist in international corporate tax, Ms. Pfatteicher focuses on tax and operational structuring, and US and foreign tax compliance, as well as large-scale cross-border mergers and acquisitions. She also supports clients on tax controversies and disputes, and on developing issues such as software-as-a-service revenue. After earning her LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown, Ms. Pfatteicher spent over a decade with KPMG in San Francisco and Century City, where she advised on international tax matters.

Ms. Pfatteicher advises a wide range of businesses, from startups to large multinational corporations, in industries such as technology, medical devices, entertainment software and gaming, communications, manufacturing, shipping, oil and gas and consumer products. Among her recent transactions, she has assisted a major technology company in the expansion of its business in Australia, China, Brazil, Argentina, UK, France and Germany; advised a large IT software company on the creation of an intangible holding company outside the US to enable global expansion; and supported a US manufacturer on the acquisition of several overseas businesses including the structuring of a new holding company and post-merger business integration.

Bernhard Gilbey, global head of Squire Patton Boggs’ Tax Strategy & Benefits Practice Group, said: “We are delighted to have Linda join us. International corporate tax is one of our core strategic growth areas and one in which we already have a significant global footprint. Linda’s experience and in-depth knowledge of the international tax arena will further strengthen our cross-border corporate tax capabilities in the US. She has advised an impressive array of companies on structuring their businesses and addressing complex tax issues around the globe, dealing with tax regimes as diverse as China, India, Switzerland and the Netherlands. At a time of seismic change in the world of international tax, this experience will be critical to our many multi-national clients.”

Michael W. Kelly, managing partner of the firm’s San Francisco and Palo Alto offices, commented: “Linda is a welcome addition to our California team. Not only is she a widely respected international tax attorney but Linda also has nearly 20 years’ experience and insight of working closely with companies across the West Coast and in Silicon Valley – really understanding their industries and their business needs. She is already known to a number of our colleagues in the Asia-Pacific region, and her sector expertise fits well with our Global Corporate and IP and Technology practices.”
