The global law firm Jones Day is pleased to announce that John Kinton has joined the Firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice, resident in the San Diego Office.
Mr. Kinton comes to Jones Day from DLA Piper, where he was a partner in the firm’s San Diego office. He has a wide range of experience handling patent litigation, including matters for clients such as Hewlett-Packard, Sophos, and Carefusion.
“John’s strong experience in patent litigation and International Trade Commission proceedings, coupled with his industry experience and technology background, makes him an excellent addition to our IP Litigation practice in San Diego,” said Karen Hewitt, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s San Diego office.
Mr. Kinton spent the last 12 years at DLA Piper. In 2010, he was named a San Diego Top Attorney by the San Diego Daily Transcript. Previously, he was general counsel and director of engineering for Charybdis Technologies in Carlsbad. Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Kinton spent seven years as a patent engineer and program manager for Boeing in St. Louis.
Mr. Kinton earned his undergraduate degree in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his law degree from Saint Louis University.
