The Palo Alto office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes L. Scott Oliver as a partner in the intellectual property litigation practice. Oliver joins K&L Gates from Morrison & Foerster LLP.

Oliver focuses his practice on patent, copyright, trade secret, and complex technology-related disputes, both in state and federal courts as well as before the International Trade Commission. He has represented clients on matters involving a wide range of technologies, including wireless and other communications technologies, standard-essential patents, optical networking, flash memory, video-on-demand, and video gaming, among others.

Oliver also has significant experience in developing and managing major anti-piracy programs for clients, in intellectual property licensing issues, with standards-setting organizations, and in the counseling and litigation of matters under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

“We are delighted to be adding Scott’s talents and considerable experience to our intellectual property practice,” said Edward P. Sangster, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Palo Alto and San Francisco offices. “Several of our patent litigators have known Scott for years. We know that he will mesh well with the team, taking the whole practice — already a global leader — another step forward.”

K&L Gates’ intellectual property litigation practice is a sophisticated, worldwide enterprise with experience in all aspects of IP litigation. In January 2014, Law360 named K&L Gates a “Practice Group of the Year” for IP Law, and in 2013, the National Law Journal named the firm to its “IP Hot List” of the top practices in the U.S.
