Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Jan P. Weir as a partner in the firm’s Orange County office. Weir and three associates join K&L Gates’ intellectual property litigation practice from Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth LLP.

With a background in molecular biology and biochemistry, Weir has substantial experience as a first-chair litigator in patent, trademark, copyright, and unfair competition disputes, including Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) litigation arising under the U.S. Hatch-Waxman Act. His trial practice is primarily focused on the defense and enforcement of intellectual property rights across a broad spectrum of technologies and related business litigation in federal and state courts. Weir also counsels companies facing complex regulatory challenges.

“We are delighted that Jan and his team have joined our Orange County office,” said David J. Perry, Administrative Partner of K&L Gates’ Orange County office. “Jan adds another first-chair patent litigator to our top-notch global intellectual property trial group.”

The arrival of Weir and his team further advances K&L Gates’ expansion of its patent litigation, FDA counseling, and licensing practices to meet the needs of the firm’s life sciences and pharmaceutical clients, particularly the growing drug manufacturing sector, and follows the recent addition of ANDA litigator Andrew Kozusko in the firm’s Pittsburgh office.
