Lathrop & Gage announced today that Phillip Maltin recently joined the firm’s Labor & Employment practice as a Partner in Los Angeles.

Maltin focuses his practice on defending businesses against all forms of employment-related claims, including harassment, discrimination, trade secrets misappropriation and class action lawsuits. He also represents domestic and foreign companies in commercial disputes. Maltin is recognized nationally as a leader in workplace investigations and speaks frequently on investigation and questioning techniques, including how to uncover dishonesty.

“Phil brings invaluable experience to Lathrop & Gage,” said Beth Schroeder, Partner in Charge of the Los Angeles office. “His diverse knowledge of employment, commercial and criminal law and ability to work across practice groups adds to the strong group of attorneys we have here. Phil and I worked together at a prior firm, and I’m thrilled that he and I are teaming up again.”

Formerly with Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP, Maltin regularly acts as outside general counsel for businesses of all sizes and supplies day-to-day human resources counseling and strategy. He is a perennial Super Lawyer, an honor given to only 5 percent of Southern California attorneys. He teaches deposition skills workshops and helps to train prosecutors through the prestigious Trial Advocacy Project (TAP). Maltin obtained a juris doctor from DePaul University College of Law.

“The Los Angeles business community is recognizing Beth and the Lathrop & Gage team as an emerging legal powerhouse,” said Maltin. “The firm’s sturdy presence and robust Labor & Employment practice present a unique opportunity for clients and for me.”
