Estate planning, trust and probate administration attorney Laura M. Lamb will join Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek as Of Counsel effective January 1, 2012.

Lamb joins SCMV from the respected estate planning boutique Showley & Thompson where she worked closely with founder Lon Showley and their clients.  Showley is retiring at the end of 2011 after 42 years of practice.  Lamb will continue to serve their clients at SCMV.

With this addition, SCMV’s highly regarded estate planning and tax practice now totals nine attorneys, including Larry Branton, James Siegel and Eleanor Meredith.

“We are continuing to expand our estate planning practice because clients need to update their trusts and estate plans more frequently due to changing laws,” said Managing Member Bob Caplan.  “Today’s trusts and estate planning issues are increasingly complicated and detailed, and our business clients frequently have important concerns relating to their personal finances.  Their estate planning needs are typically an extension of their business needs.”

“People are living longer and need to plan for the management of their healthcare and finances in the event of incapacity.  Additionally, we are seeing more non-traditional family relationships and second marriage situations that require intricate estate planning. Laura is on top of these changes, and I am pleased to leave my clients in her capable care.”

Lamb holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from California Western School of Law.  She is an Adjunct Professor of Law at California Western.
