Pepper Hamilton LLP announced that Gary Apfel has joined the firm as a partner in the Financial Services Practice Group. Prior to joining Pepper, Mr. Apfel was co-chair of the Consumer Financial Services Group at Dewey & LeBoeuf in Los Angeles.

Scott Green, chief executive officer of Pepper Hamilton, said, “Gary is a highly respected lawyer with a well-rounded corporate practice. He is an experienced leader who will serve as a catalyst for enhancing our California practice. As such, we are pleased that Gary will be leading our California expansion efforts.”

Mr. Apfel advises clients on compliance matters, corporate governance issues, reorganizations and restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings and commercial transactions. He has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including energy, insurance, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, international trade and financial services, both in the United States and internationally.

Nina M. Gussack, chair of Pepper Hamilton’s Executive Committee, said, “Bringing Gary on board will greatly support our existing clients and augment our national practices as well. We are pleased to add such an accomplished attorney to the partnership.”

Mr. Apfel earned his law degree in 1976 from Columbia Law School where he was a James Cook Kent Scholar and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He graduated magna cum laude from New York University in 1973. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Apfel is admitted to the bars of California and New York.
