Perkins Coie announced today that James F. (Jim) Jensen has joined the Firm in Palo Alto as a Partner in the Emerging Companies practice group. He joins the Firm from VantagePoint Capital Partners where he recently served as General Counsel, Emerging Markets & Assistant General Counsel.

“Jim is a tremendous asset, and we look forward to integrating his perspective as a significant consumer of legal services to our practice in order to better serve our emerging company and venture capital clients,” says Buddy Arnheim, the Firmwide Chair for the Emerging Company practice. “As we continue to grow our team, we aim to diversify and broaden our expertise, and Jim is quite simply a fantastic addition to the team.”

Jensen will focus his practice on startups and emerging growth companies; angel, venture capital and private equity financings in the United States and China; and angel investment and venture capital fund formation. He will also advise clients on the legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and strategic transactions.

Jensen earned his J.D., cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Northwestern University School of Law. He also earned a Masters of Management (M.B.A.) specializing in Finance from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.S. in Finance from Utah State University.

Jensen joins the Emerging Companies practice following a trio of attorneys who recently joined in San Diego, Peter Townshend, George Colindres and Monique Ho. Perkins Coie’s Emerging Companies practice has extensive experience in a variety of fast-moving industry sectors, including life sciences, Internet, software, digital media, hardware, telecommunications and Cleantech. The group offers services throughout the various stages an emerging company goes through from start-up to raising capital to maturity.
