Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Arthur L. Haubenstock has joined the firm’s San Francisco and Washington, D.C. offices as a Senior Counsel in the Environment, Energy & Resources (EER) practice. Haubenstock was most recently Vice President for Regulatory Affairs at BrightSource Energy, Inc., a leading solar thermal energy company, where he was responsible for a wide range of energy and environmental regulatory matters at the federal, state and local levels.

”Prior to joining BrightSource in 2008, Haubenstock was an attorney for Pacific Gas and Electric, handling matters pertaining to renewable energy, resource adequacy and market design at the California Independent System Operator Corporation, California Public Utilities Commission and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Haubenstock previously served as Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX, where he was responsible for clean air, solid and hazardous waste, and toxics matters, including redevelopment of Superfund and other contaminated sites.

Haubenstock earned his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from Wesleyan University. Haubenstock serves on several boards, including the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technology (CEERT) and the Vote Solar Initiative, and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Solar Energy Industry Association’s Utility-Scale Division.
