Stoel Rives LLP, a full-service U.S. business law firm, is pleased to announce that Christopher L. Russell has joined its Sacramento office. As a partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group, Chris advises both public and private companies at all stages of growth on a variety of corporate and transactional matters.

“We are pleased to welcome Chris to the firm,” said California Offices Managing Partner Melissa Jones. “His extensive experience counseling clients with local and national operations on transactional and finance matters will be a tremendous complement to the existing strengths of our California offices.”

Chris has broad transactional and corporate governance experience, representing venture capital firms and financial institutions in investments in emerging growth companies. He represents emerging growth companies in private financings, ranging from seed-round financings to advanced-stage financings, as well as advising on corporate issues related to all aspects of an emerging growth company’s business, including mergers and acquisition. Chris’s clientele includes private equity investors, clean technology companies, medical device/health care companies and agribusiness entities.

Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Chris practiced in the corporate group at Morrison & Foerster in Sacramento for over 15 years. He serves on the board of directors of Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) and SARTA’s MedStart Advisory Committee. He is also currently the board of director chair of Wind Youth Services. Chris received his J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law at University of the Pacific after graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University with a B.A. in history.

“Stoel Rives is a highly respected law firm that offers a full range of legal services to emerging growth and other businesses,” said Chris. “I am excited about joining a group of experienced lawyers who provide these services to clients in the Sacramento region and throughout California.”
