Maynard Cooper & Gale continues to attract high level talent in its San Francisco office with the addition of attorney Sasha G. Rao, who will join the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation & Technology practices. Rao was recently recognized as a “Top 75 IP Litigator in California” by the Daily Journal and an “IP Star” and one of the “Top 250 Women in IP” by Managing IP magazine.

Rao brings nearly 20 years of experience and a long history of success in intellectual property litigation, primarily for innovative companies in the areas of technology and life sciences. Her work includes representing some of the most well-known technology companies in Silicon Valley in both bench and jury trials, Markman hearings and post-grant invalidity challenges in the Patent Office.

“I am very impressed by Maynard’s deep bench of trial lawyers, who have tried cases all over the country, and by their client-centric approach to providing legal services,” said Rao.

Rao’s trial work includes patent infringement, Hatch-Waxman cases, trade secrets, copyrights and other issues related to intellectual property. Sasha’s facility with technology and science is anchored by a degree in physics, which helps her apply that understanding to arguments on her clients’ behalf. Other recognition of note includes her being named among “Women Leaders in Tech Law,” and a “Woman of Influence” in California.

“Sasha has achieved great success in intellectual property litigation and will significantly expand our depth of talent in this arena,” said Mark Drew, Managing Shareholder. “Her decision to join Maynard Cooper in San Francisco is a testament to our firm’s culture and reputation, and we are thrilled to welcome her.”

Sasha’s presence on the West Coast will help expand the nationwide reach of Maynard’s growing group of IP attorneys in the firm’s Huntsville, Ala. and Birmingham, Ala. offices who are registered to practice in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, along with experienced trial lawyers who have tried patent, trademark and copyright cases. These attorneys have experience in more than thirty of the Federal District Courts.

“As I told Sasha, we are committed to building a substantial West Coast presence for the benefit of our clients, while continuing to offer excellent legal service and competitive rates they have come to expect from Maynard Cooper & Gale,” said Drew Kitchen, Managing Partner of Maynard Cooper’s San Francisco office. “Sasha’s decision to join us proves Maynard Cooper is an attractive home for attorneys who are leaders in their field and sends a message to our clients that we are building a team of talented attorneys on the West Coast from which they will receive outstanding legal work on their behalf. This is an exciting day for all of us.”
