Polsinelli welcomes highly experienced attorney Christopher R. O’Brien as a shareholder in the firm’s Corporate and Transactional Practice, where he will focus on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate finance and general outside counsel advice. O’Brien joins a national team of more than 200 corporate attorneys representing businesses throughout the U.S. and abroad and more than 695 lawyers nationally with coast to coast resources.

“We are expanding in strategic ways to best serve our clients and Christopher’s practical, hands-on business experience, both as an in-house counsel and a corporate lawyer, brings another unique perspective to our clients,” said Polsinelli Corporate and Transactional Practice Chair Jonathan Henderson. “We are excited to have Christopher join our team. He has the depth of experience and a commitment to clients to help them achieve success.”

O’Brien understands business needs from an insider’s perspective, having served as an in-house counsel in charge of all corporate legal matters for a Fortune 500 company and general counsel to a late stage wireless start-up company and other public and private companies. At Polsinelli, he represents clients in a wide variety of industries, including entertainment, consumer products and media. He also counsels early stage companies in all aspects of their growth.

“I chose to move my practice to Polsinelli because the firm is dynamic and has become a place to make your mark in this city. There is a strong emphasis in corporate law and M&A and a solid growth strategy for its LA office,” O’Brien said. “The culture here is a good fit for me, and I welcome the opportunity to practice and collaborate alongside some of the nation’s most recognized and savvy corporate lawyers.”

The American Lawyer Magazine in its June 2013 issue recognized Polsinelli as the fastest-growing law firm in America over the past five years. This year, the firm moved to the 69th position in The National Law Journal’s ranking of the largest U.S. based law firms. Los Angeles has been part of that growth. The office, which opened in 2011, has attorneys who provide counsel in a wide variety of areas, including banking and financial institutions, corporate law, energy and utilities, mergers and acquisitions, municipal law and real estate development, litigation and health care.

O’Brien earned his law degree in 1991 from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law, where he was a member of the National Moot Court team, and earned his B.A. degree in International Relations from American University in 1987. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
