Veteran California construction lawyer, Roger Hughes, joins Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP as a partner and as leader of the firm’s Construction Group. Formerly with Bell, Rosenberg & Hughes LLP and most recently with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, Hughes represents clients in a variety of construction matters, including transactional work and project disputes. His addition deepens the firm’s core construction practice and is further evidence of the trend involving senior-level partners gravitating toward sophisticated regional practices.

“We are very excited about Roger’s addition,” said Wendel Rosen’s Managing Partner Daniel Rapaport.  “He has a national reputation and has led major teams on numerous high-profile cases. Roger will provide a major boost to our construction practice, an area we have targeted for strategic growth. We are proud of our proven success in attracting extraordinarily talented attorneys like Roger. Appealing to attorneys with this level of expertise is a credit to our collegial environment and proven reputation for excellent client service.”

Hughes has tried more than 100 cases to successful outcomes and was lead counsel in several significant reported California appellate court decisions. He has also assisted clients in avoiding litigation through mediation or alternative dispute resolution methods, resolving more than $1 billion in construction disputes. His extensive client list includes major public and private owners, mechanical/structural engineers, contractors, and transportation authorities.

Hughes has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for the past seven years and Northern California Super Lawyers for the past 10 years. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1972) and his B.A. from the University of the Pacific (1969).
