Nixon Peabody is expanding its construction team in San Francisco with the arrival of new counsel John Foust.

John focuses his practice on counseling and dispute resolution in connection with complex construction, infrastructure, and energy projects in the U.S. and abroad. A leader on some of the largest domestic and international construction disputes, John represents both developers and major contracting firms. For example, John was part of a team who represented MGM Resorts International in a $1B plus contract dispute over the construction of the $8.5B CityCenter project in Las Vegas.

“Construction and real estate development is experiencing explosive growth in California, and our office is handling some of the area’s most significant transactions and disputes. Our clients will benefit from John’s mega-project experience, with respect to both proactive counseling and dispute resolution,” said Anthony Barron, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s San Francisco office and a construction and real estate litigation partner. “On a personal note, John is a former colleague of mine and I’m excited about the opportunity to work together again.”

John, who joins Nixon Peabody from Jones Day, has been recognized as one of the country’s top construction lawyers by Legal 500, International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers, and Northern California Super Lawyers. He is a member of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry and sits on the steering committee for the International Construction Division. John graduated magna cum laude from Boston College Law School and earned his B.A. from the University of New Mexico.

Nixon Peabody’s construction and real estate litigation team handles cases in every forum where real estate and construction challenges arise. Our attorneys bring the same cutting edge and value-added approach to all projects, ranging from middle market to some of the largest projects in the industry.
