Simpson Thacher recently represented the underwriters, led by Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Barclays Capital Inc. and co-managed by Piper Jaffray & Co., Raymond James & Associates, Inc. and Simmons & Company International, in connection with the underwriting of the initial public offering of common stock by Ceres, Inc. (“Ceres”).  The offering of 5,750,000 shares, which includes the shares that were sold pursuant to the over-allotment option exercised by the underwriters, resulted in aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $75 million.  Ceres’ shares are listed on NASDAQ under the symbol “CERE.”

Ceres is an agricultural biotechnology company that markets seeds for energy crops used in the production of renewable transportation fuels, electricity and bio-based products.
