Erik Edwards, a former Cooley business partner who left in 2011 to serve as General Counsel and later as the Managing Director of the family office of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, has re-joined Cooley as a partner in its business department.
Edwards, who first joined Cooley as a summer associate in 1999, and became a partner in 2009, will reside in the firm’s Palo Alto office where he will re-establish a practice focused on the representation of emerging growth companies, investors and public companies on a wide range of matters including financings, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters. A highly experienced litigator, Mr. Baik has litigated cases that involved a wide range of technologies, including semiconductors, semiconductor manufacturing, power electronics, software, wired and Wi-Fi networking devices, and semiconductor memory technologies. In addition, Mr. Baik has significant experience in intellectual property licensing and has negotiated patent and intellectual property licenses on behalf of several prominent international companies, including corporations based in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Europe. Nixon Peabody’s strong Labor & Employment practice in California just got stronger with the addition of Charles Dyke to lead the firm’s national ERISA Litigation team. This is a return to Nixon Peabody for Chuck, who previously practiced with the firm from 2008 until 2011.
