Cooley LLP announced today that it has further bolstered its national litigation practice with the admission of Ray Hartman. Hartman, who will be based in Cooley’s San Diego office, joins the firm from DLA Piper. Hartman brings to Cooley considerable experience in the areas of environmental, toxic tort, product liability and real estate litigation.

“Ray is an extremely talented litigator with a particularly strong track record in environmental litigation. He will be a great asset to our clients, particularly those who face challenges in the environmental area,” said Mike Attanasio, chair of Cooley’s Litigation department and partner in charge of Cooley’s San Diego office. “With Ray’s admission our national litigation practice becomes that much stronger as his trial and strategic counseling skills will be deployed across the firm to the benefit of our entire client base.”

“It’s clear to me that Cooley’s client base and litigation focus offers a tremendous platform for me to develop my practice further,” said Ray Hartman. “I know I am joining a truly dedicated and team-oriented group of trial lawyers who have proven through countless courtroom successes an ability to guide clients through their most challenging matters. I am excited to work with perhaps the best group of trial lawyers in the state.”

Hartman received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 2000; his M.A. in Political Science, Law and Public Policy from the University of Southern California in 1996; and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of San Diego in 1993.
