Evelyn Kim has joined Baker & McKenzie’s North American Banking, Finance and Major Project Practice as a partner, bringing more than a decade of experience advising investors, lenders and developers on project finance matters related to renewable energy facilities.

Based in San Francisco, Ms. Kim advises on financing of renewable energy generation facilities, including solar, wind and biomass projects, and she also counsels clients on project financing, development, acquisitions and divestitures. Ms. Kim has been involved with solar energy transactions since the industry’s infancy in 2005, advising on the commercial and legal aspects of solar projects, from early stage development to commercial operation.

Ms. Kim has represented both regional and national developer sponsors, as well as national and international tax equity, strategic and institutional investors for renewable energy projects in over a dozen of the most active states in renewable energy in the US, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Ms. Kim also has significant experience advising clients on both distributed generation and utility scale project development, as well as managing the review of real estate and interconnection-related project contracts. In addition, she has worked on the financing of renewable energy projects, utilizing complex structures for the third-party monetization of the tax benefits associated with such renewable projects.

Ms. Kim is the latest in a series of prominent lateral hires to add depth to the Firm’s banking and project finance expertise in North America. In recent months, corporate finance attorney Jai Khanna joined in Chicago, as well as project finance attorney Mark Tibberts in New York, and banking and finance attorney Kim Prior in Miami. The practice also recently added Michael Rechtin, an experienced real estate attorney with an expertise in data centers.
