The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced that William Sloan Coats has joined its Silicon Valley office as a shareholder in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice.

Coats, a prominent trial attorney, focuses on complex intellectual property matters involving patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secret disputes for the software, hardware, computer, electronics, entertainment and movie industries.

Coats was appointed by the U.S. government to the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business Task Team on Intellectual Property Rights and Related Issues in 2008. He holds a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and a B.A. from the University of San Francisco.

Coats is the newest addition to the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
