J. Rick Taché, a registered patent attorney with extensive experience representing national clients in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation and transactional work, has joined international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLPin its Orange County office as a shareholder.

Taché has more than 20 years of experience counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property law. He also has a longstanding patent and trademark prosecution practice serving the medical devices, aerospace, software, hardware and high-tech industries.

Taché routinely works with clients to develop global protection strategies and advises them on complex transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, licensing, vendor agreements, joint ventures and outsourcing agreements.

“Rick’s broad experience with a diverse client base will complement our growing intellectual property practice, both domestically and abroad,” said Matt Gorson, President of Greenberg Traurig.  “Rick also brings added depth in the area of patent law, a high-growth area for both business and technology clients. His keen business sense, coupled with his extensive work in both patent litigation and  intellectual property transactions, will help clients navigate this complex and evolving area of the law. Taché received his J.D. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law; his LL.B from the University of Windsor; his M.A. from Ohio State University; and his B.P.E from the University of New Brunswick. He is admitted to practice in California, Arizona, North Carolina and Michigan.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Taché was a partner with Snell and Wilmer.  Before that, he was executive vice president and general counsel of Northpole Limited; general counsel, senior vice president for Nomadix, Inc; and was assistant chief intellectual property counsel with McDonnell Douglas Corporation.

Taché is the newest addition to the firm’s IP and Technology Group.  Within the last two months, the firm has also added Ross Spencer Garsson, IP Litigation shareholder in Austin; Kakoli Caprihan, IP Litigation of counsel in Washington D.C.; Brian Danella, IP/IT Transactional of counsel in Silicon Valley and Kate Hutchins, IP Litigation of counsel in New York.
