Farella Braun + Martel is pleased to announce the addition of Julie Treppa to its San Francisco office. Treppa joins the firm as a partner in the Tax Group.

“We are delighted to welcome Julie to Farella,” said firm chair Brian Donnelly. “Julie adds significant bench strength to Farella’s tax practice. In addition to advising clients on sophisticated tax planning strategies, she is among the leading tax practitioners in California on New Markets Tax Credits. The use of tax credits has grown into a key driver for the successful completion and development of real estate investment projects, community revitalization programs and renewable energy projects. We have a long history in this area and we’re excited to have an attorney of Julie’s caliber on board to expand the practice.”

Treppa develops sophisticated tax planning strategies for corporations, nonprofits, partnerships and joint ventures and assists clients with transaction planning, equity incentive programs, and deferred compensation matters. She has significant experience advising clients on the formation and operation of private equity investment and joint venture capital funds. She counsels investors, businesses and community-based organizations seeking to use tax incentives and tax credits to maximize profits while achieving social, financial and environmental goals. Treppa is a member of the New Markets Tax Credit Working Group, an organization that provides an industry platform to resolve technical and administrative issues with the New Markets Tax Credit Program.

“I’m thrilled to join Farella’s tax team,” said Treppa. “I was drawn to the firm because of the depth and breadth of its tax credit experience. They have the marketplace connections and know-how to handle the complex structuring issues that are critical to closing tax credit transactions.”

Prior to joining the firm, Treppa served as chair of the Tax practice group at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP. She is recognized by Best Lawyers in America. Treppa received her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, her M.S. in taxation from Golden Gate University School of Tax, and her B.A. from the University of California, Davis.
