Leech Tishman recently welcomed Donald M. Clary to its Los Angeles office (LA). Don has joined the firm’s Energy and Environmental, Safety & Toxic Torts Practice Groups. The addition of Don to Leech Tishman’s LA lawyer team further expands the local service offerings in Leech Tishman’s first West Coast office. The firm’s LA office opened earlier in 2013 with two well-known intellectual property lawyers, Alan M. Kindred and Ivan Posey. The LA office is under the oversight of Leech Tishman partner William F. Bresee, a veteran transactional and energy attorney.

Don is an experienced transactional lawyer with a specialized background in the energy, environmental, real property, land use and utility fields. He regularly represents clients in regulatory proceedings, in matters relating to the purchase and sale of electric energy and in the developing, licensing, procurement, construction and siting of utility facilities. Don has a wealth of experience advising energy development companies on all aspects of energy development and energy utility planning including coal, gas, wind, hydroelectric, solar, geothermal and cogeneration development. He has counseled major energy consumers on purchasing transactions and the installation of green technologies.

During the course of his career, Don has amassed a variety of experience in environmental legal matters, handling all aspects of environmental disputes, administrative actions, environmental insurance, due diligence, and administrative litigation. He often advises companies in matters before key local, state and federal environmental agencies on permitting, cleanup and closure, compliance, Brownfield, zoning and enforcement matters.

Don also has extensive real property and land use experience, having represented major developers and tenants in a wide range of purchase and sale transactions involving office buildings, shopping centers, corporate business parks, industrial properties, entertainment facilities, warehouses, and other properties.

Prior to joining Leech Tishman, Don was a partner with Holland & Knight, LLP (a major international law firm) and owned and operated his own practice for several years. Don’s background includes a variety of law firm and in-house experience.
