The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Maria Sendra has joined the Firm as a partner in the Private Equity Practice, resident in the Firm’s San Diego Office. Ms. Sendra comes to Jones Day from the San Diego office of Baker & McKenzie, where she was a partner and co-chair of the firm’s North America Life Sciences M&A subcommittee.

Ms. Sendra advises clients on initial public offerings, SEC compliance, mergers and acquisitions, anti-takeover, complex licensing, and corporate alliances. She has represented clients in transactions tapping into emerging markets all over the world, including Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. In the U.S., Ms. Sendra has worked on numerous venture capital and private equity transactions, and has managed more than 50 initial and secondary public offerings on the NASDAQ and NYSE. For the past several years, Oxford University has invited her to participate in their annual Silicon Valley panel on emerging technologies and entrepreneurship that includes key executives and/or founders from some of the preeminent technology companies around the world.

With Ms. Sendra’s arrival, Jones Day has now added 20 lateral partners and of counsel from other law firms across its five California offices in 2011. The San Diego Office now has 41 legal professionals.

Ms. Sendra earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University, a graduate degree from Indiana University, and her law degree from U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall.
