Nossaman LLP announced today that Kevin Collins has joined the Firm as a partner in the Litigation Department.  Mr. Collins, an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on complex litigation in commercial, construction, and public law, will be based in Nossaman’s Sacramento office.

“This is an exciting period for the Firm as we build toward the future,” Nossaman’s firm-wide managing partner Michael Heumann said.  “We are extremely focused on expanding our presence in Sacramento and Kevin is a highly-respected litigator who is a perfect strategic fit with our existing practices.  We couldn’t be happier that he decided to join us.”

“When we formed a Sacramento recruiting task force earlier this year to help raise our profile in the region, Kevin is exactly the type of lateral partner we wanted to attract,” said Mary Powers Antoine, administrative partner for the Sacramento office.  “Nossaman has built a very strong practice in Sacramento and we are only getting stronger.”

Mr. Collins represents commercial real estate developers, major auto manufacturers, public agencies, and clients in the financial services sector.  His auto industry clients have included the North American divisions of Honda, Kia Motors, and BMW.  He has 15 years of experience representing public agencies, cities, counties, and special districts.

“Nossaman’s Litigation Department is tremendously respected throughout California and beyond, and I am truly impressed with the diversity and complexity of the matters handled by this team,” Mr. Collins said.  “The Firm is clearly committed to growth in Sacramento and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to build and strengthen my practice as well.”

Mr. Collins, who joins Nossaman from Greenberg Traurig LLP, is a former general counsel for a Community Services District, which provided fire, park, and recreation services to residents in a 157-square-mile area of Sacramento County.  He earned his law degree from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a B.A. degree, cum laude, from University of Redlands.

In September, Nossaman announced it has signed a lease to occupy the 25th floor of Sacramento’s signature U.S. Bank Tower as part of its plan for strategic growth.  The Firm will move from its current location at 915 L Street to the 20,000 RSF top floor in the first quarter of 2012.  In addition to Mr. Collins, Nossaman is actively looking to add talented attorneys in a variety of practice areas, including litigation, financial services, health care, employment, and water.
