Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C., announced today that Yousuf I. Dhamee has joined the firm’s Investment Management practice as a partner in its Los Angeles office.

Mr. Dhamee’s practice focuses on the representation of investment advisers in connection with the structuring and distribution of private and registered investment products. Mr. Dhamee also advises clients on the establishment and ongoing operations of investment adviser businesses, including structuring incentive compensation and equity ownership arrangements for principals. In addition, Mr. Dhamee regularly represents institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, in connection with their investments in private funds.

Mr. Dhamee joins Stroock from the Los Angeles office of Bingham McCutchen. He previously worked as a director in the general counsel’s office of a registered investment adviser of hedge funds, debt funds and issuers of CDOs. Mr. Dhamee received his B.A. from Brown University, and J.D. from New York University School of Law where he was Editor of the Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.

Mr. Dhamee is joined by Corporate Associate Neema Ghannadi, who also joins Stroock from the Los Angeles office of Bingham McCutchen. Mr. Ghannadi has advised clients on the structuring and operations of various investment funds and their portfolio companies, including in relation to mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, and general corporate matters. Mr. Ghannadi has previously provided counsel to the Federal Trade Commission and the United States Attorney’s office.
