Steven G. Polard, a bankruptcy and commercial litigator with more than three decades of experience, has joined Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as a partner in our Los Angeles office.

Polard primarily represents secured creditors, including banks and special servicers of commercial mortgage-backed securities. He most recently practiced as a partner for 15 years at Perkins Coie LLP.

“We’re very pleased to have Steven join us,” said Mary Haas, partner-in-charge at Davis Wright’s growing L.A. office. “His strong background and years of work handling bankruptcy matters and creditors’ right litigation aligns nicely with the skills we currently offer our clients.”

“At a time of continued fallout from the financial crisis, Steven’s abilities will be of great value to our current and future clients,” said Joe VanLeuven, chair of Davis Wright’s credit recovery and bankruptcy practice.

“I’m elated to be joining DWT,” said Polard. “The firm knows exactly where it wants to grow, and where to apply its resources to serve its growing practice.”

Polard earned his J.D. at Duke University School of Law and his B.S.B. from the University of Kansas, with highest distinction.
