WilmerHale is pleased to announce today that Timothy Perry, a former federal prosecutor, has joined the firm as a counsel in the Los Angeles office and is a member of the firm’s Securities and Litigation/Controversy Departments.

Mr. Perry brings extensive trial and investigative experience to the firm, having prosecuted and tried a wide range of complex white collar criminal matters in six years at the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego. Among other accolades, Mr. Perry received the Attorney General’s Award-the Department of Justice’s highest honor-for his work.

Lee, the partner-in-charge and founding partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. “His trial skills, investigative experience and insights into the Department of Justice will be of great value to our clients who face significant government investigations and enforcement actions.”

Mr. Perry was the securities fraud coordinator and a member of the Major Frauds and Special Prosecutions section in the US Attorney’s Office, where he worked closely with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He tried 15 federal jury trials and led dozens of long-term grand jury investigations involving securities fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, corruption, campaign finance fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice and commercial fraud related to antidumping and international trade.

Before serving as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Perry was an associate at a large international law firm in San Francisco and a law clerk to the Honorable Peter W. Hall on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Perry earned his JD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006. Before attending law school, he was a Fulbright scholar in South Africa, where he monitored the implementation of portions of the 1996 constitution, and received his BA from Brown University. He is a member of the California bar.
