O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced today that Jorge deNeve is rejoining the Firm from Aletheia Research & Management, Inc., where he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. DeNeve will reside in O’Melveny’s Los Angeles office as counsel and will be a member of the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice.

DeNeve has extensive experience in SEC compliance and enforcement, having previously served as a staff attorney in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission’s Los Angeles Regional Office. During his tenure, he investigated numerous cases involving financial fraud, disclosure fraud, market timing and misconduct by independent accountants, and worked closely with other government officials and agencies. Prior to and following his service with the SEC, deNeve practiced at O’Melveny, representing clients in investigations and litigation involving securities matters.

During his tenure at Aletheia, an independent registered investment advisor, deNeve was responsible for advising Aletheia’s management on all its legal matters and supervising outside litigation counsel on pending legal proceedings.

“We are very happy to welcome Jorge back to O’Melveny,” said Dan Bookin, Chair of O’Melveny’s White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice. “He has an incredibly well-rounded background that encompasses enforcement, advisor, and in-house experience, which gives him an uncommonly rich knowledge and understanding of securities and regulatory matters that complements our practice. Jorge’s skill in handling corporate investigations and his substantial experience working with federal prosecutors and regulators will benefit our clients greatly.”

DeNeve received a B.S. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1992 and a J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1998. Prior to joining O’Melveny, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Audrey B. Collins, currently the Chief Judge of the Central District of California.
