Dykema, a leading national law firm, is pleased to announce that Luke Sosnicki, an accomplished financial services litigator, has joined the firm as senior counsel in Los Angeles.

Sosnicki has extensive experience defending banks and mortgage servicers in individual and class action lawsuits across the country.  He has litigated—both as in-house and outside counsel—dozens of matters from inception through summary judgment and has handled appeals involving such issues as standing to foreclose and first-impression questions of compliance with state loss-mitigation laws.

Sosnicki comes to Dykema from Nationstar Mortgage, where he served as Vice President and Assistant Legal Counsel. At Nationstar, he managed hundreds of lawsuits alleging various lending violations, origination fraud and loan-servicing errors.  Prior to joining Nationstar, he was an Assistant General Counsel for Aurora Bank FSB (formerly Lehman Brothers Bank FSB), where he also managed litigation and advised various business units on litigation risk, foreclosure practices and state and federal laws governing default management.

“Luke has an extraordinary understanding of the complexities and nuances of financial services litigation,” said Tom Schehr, leader of the Financial Services Litigation practice group. “His skill in devising litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes makes him a highly prized addition to our team.”

Mike Wippler, Office Managing Member of Dykema’s Los Angeles Office, adds, “With his extensive banking background, Luke brings a client-side perspective and insights that our financial service clients will instantly value and appreciate.”

Sosnicki has a B.S. in Political Science and English from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He obtained his J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and served as an Editor of the Northwestern University Law Review.
